Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Certification #2

Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Certification #2

I don’t normally comment on certification examinations – I don’t really feel that a website like this should focus on getting people certified – sure, we can help you prepare and give you lots of fun things to do while you get ready. But we are never going to be selling “certification dumps” or any nonsense like that. If you cannot prepare for an examination, you shouldn’t be taking it. End of story.

But, since I just took the Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Certification today, I thought I would give you some heads-up on the kinds of questions that I noticed (and bear in mind, that my memory is not what it used to be). Again, I’m not going to give you the questions, I’m going to give you some pointers as to the kind of question you might see.

Firstly, this is clearly an update of the 2017 Certification, so if you took it and passed, many of the question styles and content will be familiar to you. But the vast majority of them have undergone review, editing and minor changes.

Question Styles That Might Bug You

You need to do X. Place the following things (1-9) in order of doing them to achieve X. If a step is required more than once, only mark the first time the step is used.

The steps are unclear, the answers are unclear, and some of the terminology used is dubious.

You have an entity model X to achieve Y. What kind of relationship is Z?

Beware your terminology – get in your head that it’s asking for a relationship even if the example provided is not obvious.

Which of the following is a good example of the correct phrasing for X

Be very clear about what that question style is asking. Many of them look like they are asking Y but they want X. Re-read the question several times!

Choose four things that are true about X functionality

Some of the examples I saw were completely generic – you know the sort of thing. They ask you about swimming 100 meters, and one of the answers is “a swimming pool is full of water” whilst all the other answers are about breathing, swimming technique, strokes. Watch out for these “sleeping choices”.

Which of the following are incorrect when talking about AND and OR

These questions require a certain amount of time to consider – which ones have the correct combinations of AND, OR, ANY, ALL, BOTH, EITHER and all the other combinations of grouping words. Read it slowly!

Poor Quality Graphics

Aside from these bugbears, the other thing that still annoys me is the quality of the screenshots used. And of course, this is dependent on the software used for the certification examination, I know that. But at least try and give clear, large images without any silly stuff (like the Word examples that have clearly gotten the grammar and spelling check with the blue line underneath the text). It’s a question of quality.

Web Page Not up to date

One thing that bothers me is that the Certification page on the Oracle Website does not specify which version this examination has been validated against. And I saw at least 1 question for which the answer would have been different, depending on the version.

Good Luck!

Good luck to you all. If I have any more thoughts, I’ll let you know. And yes, I did pass :). If you are interested in accelerating your learning, read about our workshops here.

Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Certification

Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Certification

I’m not sure if we have mentioned it before, but the latest incarnation of the Oracle Policy Automation Certification (to give it it’s commonly used name) is now live and available as a proctored examination, as well as a remote examination in some jurisdictions. It’s called Oracle Policy Automation Cloud 2019 Implementation Essentials.

The examination has the following characteristics:

  • Format:  Multiple Choice
  • Duration: 120 minutes, 80 questions, 68% passing score
  • Examination Code : 1Z0-1035

It is the gateway to the Oracle Policy Automation Cloud Service 2019 Certified Implementation Specialist certification.

Workshops for Oracle Policy Automation

Now, as many of you know, the OPA Hub Website runs Workshops to help people get to grips with Oracle Policy Automation. If you want to know if a Workshop can help you and your team prepare for the certification examination or indeed just to improve your knowledge of the product, then you can learn about it in the video below which gives you an example.

The three day workshop we describe in the video can be extended to four days, or can include a variety of different content areas which you can read about on the Education page. Of course most of our workshops about Oracle Policy Automation use the book Getting Started with Oracle Policy Automation 2019 edition as their support materials as well as presentations and exercises.

Amazon Availability Issues – Solved

If you have been trying to get a copy of the book and you have noticed that the lead time on Amazon is too long, you can get the book in record time by using our other approved channel, the Book Depository. You can get the Getting Started with Oracle Policy Automation 2019 Edition here, and they ship worldwide. Otherwise you can of course go to the publisher, P8 Tech and order it there.

New Quizzes – New Prizes!

New Quizzes – New Prizes!

Our Quiz-making team has been hard at work setting up more quizzes to keep you entertained. We now have a grand total of 10 quizzes for you to practice your skills on (go to the Quizzes option on the main menu of this site). Plus, to give you even more of a challenge we have introduced the Complete Prize OPA Quiz for 2019. It contains all 100 questions from the individual quizzes, rolled into one quiz with 100 questions and only 90 minutes to finish it.

It will be reset each month (you can only take the quiz once per month) and new questions added / old questions removed as months go by. For our first month we are  offering a $50 US Amazon voucher to the winner, to be decided on 28 February – since January is almost finished. Find out more here. The runner-up will receive the OPA Hub Official T-Shirt, and the third place an OPA Hub Official Mug!

Get Prepared

Here are the links to the individual quizzes. Our research shows that these help new-starters get an idea of their knowledge gaps, and help build confidence in the product. It doesn’t matter if you are just having fun or perhaps you are preparing for an interview or even the Certification exam, they can be helpful and certainly will test your reflexes. For these new quizzes we have added some “non Multiple Choice” questions – drag and drop, sort and order that kind of thing – to give your mind something a little different to focus on.

Getting Started with Oracle Service Cloud

Getting Started with Oracle Service Cloud

Getting Started with Oracle Service CloudA question from the bag of “virtual mail” that gets delivered here every day (even on Sunday). E.D writes to us from Penn State with a question that is on quite a lot of people’s minds. Can the book Getting Started with Oracle Service Cloud get you certified? Or, to be fair, this is the question exactly as it was asked :

“I’m wondering if your new book for Oracle Service Cloud is enough knowledge to pass Oracle’s certification exam? I’m an ex-Oracle employee with 20+ years of Service experience, but never had the opportunity to get the service certifications. And I can’t afford $5k to buy the online training subscription. Any advice you might have is appreciated!”

Now it won’t come as a great surprise that I am not going to straightaway jump in and say “Yes of course!“. After all, I didn’t write the book to serve as a certification tool. In fact, I write that in the preface of all my books to make sure that people don’t think I am offering a sort of magic shortcut.

It’s probably better to answer this in a practical way. Here are the subjects of the OSvC Implementation Essentials certification examination, with, alongside, relevant chapters of the Getting Started with Oracle Service Cloud book, and some comments from me.

I hope this helps. You should however bear in mind that the Exam does ask very detailed questions, so it is a pre-requisite to have had a fair amount of hands-on experience. Just reading the book would not be enough.

OPA 12 Certification Preparation Quiz #5 : New on the OPA Hub Website

OPA 12 Certification Preparation Quiz #5 : New on the OPA Hub Website

OPA 12 CertificationI announced it almost by accident a couple of days ago, but it has now gone up on the OPA Hub Website in the Quizzes section : OPA 12 Certification Preparation Quiz #5 is live. This one focuses on the type of question you can get in many Oracle certification examinations : the visual recognition. You probably know the sort I mean, where they show you a screenshot from some forgotten part of the application and then ask you lots of questions about it. Then they show you a (very) slightly different screenshot and ask you another question. After three or four, it can get pretty crazy. So I am giving you 10 of them, just for fun. They will work your brain and get you in the spirit.

The quizzes are all free of course, and I want to thank all of you for taking part. If you have noticed interesting questions or have ideas for more questions, please leave a comment. This is especially true if you want to give some feedback about the sort of question you have been faced with. Just to be clear, our goal is not to provide some sort of testing tool. It is simply to give you something of a similar level to work with.

Oracle Policy Automation Quiz Leaderboards

Oracle Policy Automation Quiz Leaderboards

Oracle Policy Automation Quiz - LogoIt seems to  be Oracle Policy Automation Quiz Month here on the OPA Hub Website. Lots of readers are taking part in the Oracle Policy Automation Quizzes here. Of course I suppose many of them might be preparing for their Oracle Policy Automation Certification (I’m thinking of the Oracle Policy Automation Cloud Service 2017 Certification in particular), but I suspect some people just like to test themselves and see how they measure up to their peers. The quizzes are quick-fire (since there are only 10 questions in each) and they can be something to do during a coffee break I guess.

With that in mind, I thought I would publish the Leaderboard for the first two of the quizzes – there are four, and the fifth is going to be released this week so watch out for Part Five. Once we reach the magic marker of 100 questions, then we will package it into a single Quiz and set the timer to mimic the duration of a certification examination, for those of you who like to have a frisson of stress when doing this sort of thing.

OPA Hub Quiz Part One Leaderboard

These leaderboards are generated on the fly, so they may take a couple of seconds to display. For the sake of brevity they only show the top fifteen or so placed players.

Keep watching the OPA Hub Website this week for the release of the next part of the Quiz, with ten new all visual questions (you know the ones that show you the same image five times and ask you to make declarations about it)! Thanks to all the players (especially Bob, who seems to have had a good time!. See you soon on the OPA Hub website, hopefully for a quiz or three.

Oracle Policy Automation Tutorials and Quizzes

Good News for Oracle Policy Automation fans!

We’ve begun rolling out our latest feature, namely interactive quizzes for you to test yourself on Oracle Policy Automation and Modeling. We are always looking for ways to help you learn Oracle Policy Automation or to prepare for the Certification Exam for example.

The first three quizzes are now live on the site, and we will be adding more and more as the weeks go by. The quizzes are free of course and we maintain a leaderboard for each quiz so you can see how well you have done. We believe that it is better to be prepared for an interview or examination by practicing (through the OPA tutorials, walk-through guides and videos we have on this site) but it is also good to actually get into the spirit by testing yourself for real.

With that in mind, here are the shortcuts to the current quizzes. Expect another quiz to be put online every week. Enjoy!

Oracle Intelligent Advisor Certified Implementation Specialist

Oracle Certification announced the release of the new certification shown above that has the reference number 1Z0-1035-20.

There are no study guides, no practice exams available. The Introduction to Policy Automation 12 course (1 day)  or the Oracle Policy Modeling for Policy Experts(3 days) are still available for those wishing to get trained before taking 1Z0-1035,  but from my perspective as an experienced consultant and trainer, they may not be the best use of your time.

They are useful introductions but if you are aiming for knowledge of collaboration features, the OPA Hub and project administration using Inclusions, REST APIs and so on, they are not worth it  – because they are not covered in these courses, which are devoid of practical examples beyond very simple rules. I’m not criticizing the content of the courses – they are perfect for a certain population, just not for this certification or for a full picture.

The OPA Hub Website now offers you 100 free questions to get you in the mood for 1Z0-1035 : test your knowledge of Intelligent Advisor.

The OPA Hub Website now offers a training course to bridge that gap in the curriculum. What’s more it can be customized to your specific requirements. And we offer online learning to help skill up your team ready for 1Z0-1035.
